I’m a proofreader, copy editor, and writer. I thoroughly enjoy diving into the details of a writing project and making it the best it can be. I like assisting writers to bring out the very best in their projects.
I was a writer for years, working for clients as well as my own blogs. Then I wanted to explore other opportunities that the Internet had to offer. In the end, I came back to writing. It feels like home.
But to be honest, I like helping other people with their writing. That’s why I now focus on proofreading and copy editing. For me, it’s the best of all worlds: I’m still connected to writing, yet I help others improve their writing project.
When I first considered becoming a certified proofreader, I wondered if I would like to learn the thousands of grammar, punctuation, and spelling rules required to become certified.
It took only a few days to realize that I was finding this aspect of the writing field very interesting! It didn’t seem like work at all. I loved digging into the Chicago Manual of Style to discover a fine point about grammar or syntax. That’s when I knew I was cut out to shine up other people’s writing.
There’s a place for everyone in the writing field and I have found mine.
